Eventhough India has already won the series by winning the first 3 matches, the England cricket team will still be looking to get some victories under their belt. With just 1 more ODI remaining after today’s match-up, both teams went out there with positive intents. But after almost 87 overs of cricket, the Indian cricket team came out victorious yet again going 4 up in the 5 match series.

It was England who won the toss today and they decided to have a bat first. They started off well but the loss of both the opening batsmen in the 6th and 7th overs of the innings meant that they now had to built a partnership. And they did just that with Jonathan Trott and Kevin Pieterson playing well together and putting on a 73 run partnership at the crucial time. Trott was the first to fall after that as he ended up bowled by Vinay Kumar for 39 runs. Pieterson followed soon after as he was dismissed off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin after getting 41 runs in 61 balls.

Things went from bad to worse after that for England as they kept losing wickets at very regular intervals with only one person reaching double figures out there in the middle. And after that it was Tim Bresnan who surprisingly performed with the bat of all people playing a solid innings of 45 runs in 45 balls giving England atleast some sort of respectability as they finished with the total of 220 runs all out in 46.1 overs. A great bowling display by the Indian bowlers the best of whom has to be Ravichandran Ashwin who finished with figures of 38 runs and 3 wickets in his 10 overs.

India did not get off to the best of starts in their run chase, losing 3 big wickets for just 46 runs. But after that a big partnership between Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina took the game completely away from England. They put on 131 runs for the 4th wicket taking the Indian total to 177/4 when Raina was finally bowled by Steven Finn for 80 runs.

Kohli continued his innings though, playing out the remaining overs and remaining not out at 86 runs as India eased past England’s total with 6 wickets remaining and almost 10 overs to spare. The pick of the bowlers by far today was Steven Finn, who bowled impressively taking 2 big wickets at the start and breaking that important partnership. He ended up with figures of 45 runs for 3 wickets in his 10 overs.

The 4th win in a row for India in this 5 match ODI series must have pleased everyone in the country. With just 1 match remaining India will be pressing on to get that white-wash over England and the English players will need to play alot better to stop them from achieving it.
